Patriots Sweep opening series in dominant Fashion

Patriots baseball is undefeated to start the 2025 campaign. They took the final two games of the opening series versus Tusculum bringing their point differential to a staggering +22.

The Patriots second game of the year never became much of a competition. After entering the second inning tied at one run each, Patriots senior right fielder Austin Bunn solo homered to give his team a lead never lost.

Senior Center Fielder Will Dorrell led the Patriots scoring barrage with four hits, two runs, and an RBI. His double in the first inning of the game set the tone for the day scoring the first run. Dorrell has been the teams hottest hitter, and one of the most productive hitters in the conference to start the year.

Assistant coach Matt McCarty emphasized the approach he has tried to install in the hitters this year. “They were patient, saw pitches up, didn’t chase, and swung at good pitches this weekend.” The Patriots have scored 30 runs in 3 games to start the year.

Junior Pitcher Robbie Jordan made his return to the mound for the first time in over a year. Jordan made a clear statement in his return that he is fully healthy, as he posted 4 strike-outs in 5 innings, and only allowing one run on three hits. Jordan was the Patriots ace in 2023 before needing tommy-john surgery. His return adds back to an already bolstered pitching staff.

The Patriots will take on Claflin University on Wednesday. The first pitch will be at 1 p.m. at Sparrow Stadium.
